We arrived at Corner of Chaos on a brisk Friday night. Still relatively early in the season, there were crowds but not unreasonable lines. We met up with John who filled us in on the history of Carnival of Chaos. The location is “Corner Copia” a year round nursery and farm market, an 85 acre farm that utilizes 55 acres in October for their haunt. The "Chaotic Carnival" show was new to the attraction and was free entertainment to those there for the walk thru attractions. The theme was a broken down circus and it was here that we would catch the fire breathing / eating act.
On a tight schedule we headed right for the Wooded Wasteland. This walk thru takes place in a wooded area of the property and takes about half an hour to complete. The theme was a toxic wasteland where we encountered miners driven mad by an unknown gas they had accidentally struck while mining. Corner of Chaos had a great location to work with and employed a good use of lighting throughout, effectively creating blind spots and shadows allowing their actors to appear from nowhere.
We emerged from the woods and could see fireballs bursting forth into the night so we hurried over to the carnival to catch the rest of the show. There was a bit of a breeze but it was obvious that this was not their first rodeo. The entertainers made the most of the limitations nature provided and still put on a pretty good show.
Next we headed over to the Barbaric Barnyard. We’d been hearing whispers while standing in line that it was a show stealer. While waiting for our turn to enter we are regaled with the terrible tale of the Butcher family. A NJ story with all the drama of “The Jersey Shore” without the bad (NORTH!!) Jersey stereotypes. Love, sex, murder, betrayal and a pact with the “Straw Man.” This walk thru would take about 20 minutes to complete. We did encounter enthusiastic actors in this house… but I’m going to have to give the hands down creepiest job to the little girl that was wandering around in this attraction. She perfectly captured that “child creepiness” that we’ve seen in more then one horror movie and we would later find out that she was their little girl Gabrielle.

Not to be missed are the actors wandering the area entertaining (or tormenting) their victims while waiting in line or hanging out at the bonfire. We did have a conversation with one of the actors about the moral dilemma “to scare or not to scare” those leaving the port-a-potties. We said “go for it” but he continued to ponder if that was crossing the line. The laughs continued as this same actor continued to bedevil the girls behind us in line for the Trail of Treachery. Telling one of the young ladies, in essence, that she needed to take a time out and "think about what she’d done" because she had interfered with his scare.
The Trail of Treachery took place in their large corn maze that by day welcomes families for the less scary version. The walk takes about 20 minutes and was a mixture of old favorites and new twists.
We had a great time at Corner of Chaos. It was a fun time, a great location, concessions and a huge bonfire to warm your hands or your bumper. One of Jersey's finest, we hope you'll give them a visit and tell them HauntFreaks sent you.
We apologize for the lack of photos on this attraction and welcome anyone associated with Corner of Chaos to contact us with any photos you might have. The attractions are all very dark, which work well for their scares but make our job a little tougher. We try to make our visit as unobtrusive to the haunts as possible and didn't want to hold up the lines for long set ups.
